Luxury for Less: Four Top-Rated All-Inclusives for Spring 2027, Flights Included

A young couple, a modest budget, and the question every advisor should ask once in a while. Am I out of touch? The number one resort in the Caribbean, three that cost about half as much, and what a week really costs from Canada and the US.

The Gatherwell Journal

I love planning luxury travel. But I always say, I just want people to travel together, no matter what the budget.

A lovely young lady I know just got engaged. They're a young couple just starting out, so they don't have a massive budget. When she told me their number, my first thought was, I don't think you can do a good-quality all-inclusive for that.

Then I wondered. Am I just out of touch?

I really wanted to give her some great options. So I set out to find luxury for less. I priced every April and May 2027 departure I could find for more than thirty well-reviewed all-inclusives in Punta Cana, Cancun and the Riviera Maya, from four Canadian cities. Then I read the reviews, threw out the ones I wouldn't send my own family to, and priced the finalists from four US cities as well. This is what I found.

Can you get a good all-inclusive on a modest budget?

Yes. A top-rated all-inclusive week with flights from Canada starts at around $1,900 to $2,000 per person this spring, and the best of them are rated 4.5 or higher by tens of thousands of guests.

The catch is that the price of the same resort can swing by hundreds of dollars a person depending on the week, the departure city and the room. And the cheapest listing on any given day is often cheap for a reason. Getting luxury for less comes down to three things: the right destination, the right week, and knowing which bargains to walk away from.

What is the best all-inclusive in the Caribbean for 2026?

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. Tripadvisor ranked it number one in its 2026 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best awards for all-inclusives in the Caribbean, ahead of a private island in Turks and Caicos and Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica.

It is adults only and sits on Juanillo Beach inside the gated Cap Cana community, about fifteen minutes from Punta Cana's airport. All 375 rooms are suites, there are six restaurants and seven bars, and the Larimar Spa is built to look like a limestone cave. It is rated 4.9 on roughly 9,500 reviews.

It is gorgeous, and it is priced like it. A week in April with flights from Edmonton starts at about $4,120 per person. That is the splurge, and the benchmark everything else on this list is measured against.

What are the best value all-inclusives in Mexico for spring 2027?

Paradisus La Perla, Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen and Ventus at Marina El Cid. All three are rated between 4.5 and 4.7 on Tripadvisor, all three are on Mexico's Riviera Maya, and all three cost roughly half what the splurge does in April.

Paradisus La Perla, Playa del Carmen. Adults only, right on the beach, and rated 4.7. It was the highest rated of my three Mexico picks. From Edmonton, a week in April starts at about $2,499 per person.

Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen. Adults only and rated 4.6 on more than 24,000 reviews. Every room is a suite with a balcony, there are thirteen restaurants and bars, and you can walk to Fifth Avenue for an evening in town. For a young couple who wants a little life around them, this one is hard to beat. From Edmonton, about $2,269 per person.

Ventus at Marina El Cid, Puerto Morelos. A Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best for 2026, rated 4.5. It welcomes families as well as couples, so it isn't adults only, but guests rave about the butler service and how spotless it is. From Edmonton, about $2,007 per person, which is 49 percent of the splurge. For a couple, that is $4,226 less for the week.

So it can be done. You just have to know when to go, and where not to.

How much does an all-inclusive week cost with flights?

From Canada, a week at one of these four resorts in April 2027 runs from about $1,877 to $4,130 per person, with return flights, every meal and drink, and taxes included.

Here is the range for each resort across Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto. These are real package prices, the lowest April day I found from each city.

From Canada, per person in CAD, 7 nights, flights, meals, drinks and taxes
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana C$3,874 to C$4,130
Paradisus La Perla C$2,409 to C$2,549
Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen C$2,209 to C$2,319
Ventus at Marina El Cid C$1,877 to C$2,007
Lowest April 2027 package prices found October 2, 2026 from Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto, two to a room. From Edmonton: C$4,120, C$2,499, C$2,269 and C$2,007.

From the US, the picture is similar, with Hyatt Vivid coming in lowest of the four.

From the US, per person in USD, 7 nights, flights, meals and drinks, estimated
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana $3,460 to $3,600
Paradisus La Perla $2,080 to $2,290
Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen $1,560 to $1,760
Ventus at Marina El Cid $1,890 to $2,090
Estimates from Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and New York: half a published or average resort rate for two over seven nights, plus a typical round-trip economy fare. Airport transfers not included. Ask me for a live quote on your dates.

Spending money is the part an all-inclusive takes care of. Your meals, drinks, snacks, pools and evening entertainment are covered before you leave home. What isn't covered is the spa, excursions, tips and travel insurance, so budget for whichever of those matter to you.

When is the cheapest time to go to an all-inclusive in spring?

Mid-April, right after Easter. In 2027 Easter falls on March 28, and most spring breaks are over by then. When I compared every April and May departure from Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver, the best April day beat the best May day at all four of these resorts.

From Toronto it is closer. La Perla and Hyatt Vivid each came in a little lower in May. So the rule of thumb is to look at mid-April first, and then let someone check May for your city before you book.

The other thing that moves the price is flexibility. The numbers above are the best day I found in April. A typical April day from Edmonton ran about $170 to $430 per person higher. If you can move your departure by a few days, you will usually find the lower number.

Which cheap all-inclusives should you avoid?

The ones whose recent reviews tell a different story from their brand name. Two of the lowest prices in my whole search were exactly that.

The cheapest Hyatt I found in Mexico came in under $1,920 from Edmonton. It is rated 2.8 on Tripadvisor, after a recent change of brand that guests say left them with one restaurant open most nights and a very small beach. Another adults-only resort looked like a bargain until I read the recent reviews mentioning bed bugs. Neither made my list.

The lesson isn't that cheap is bad. Ventus is a Best of the Best resort at about $2,000 with flights. The lesson is that a price on its own tells you nothing. Read the reviews from the last six months, look at how many there are, and be wary of any resort that has changed its name or brand in the last year or two.

Is an all-inclusive a good choice for a family trip?

For most multigenerational families, yes. When you take ten people somewhere, the room rate is rarely what hurts. It's ten breakfasts, ten lunches, ten dinners, a round of drinks, and the eight-year-old who wants one more smoothie. Kind of feels like being nickel and dimed to death.

An all-inclusive settles all of that before you leave home. A week at Ventus for ten family members, flights included, comes to roughly C$19,000 to C$20,000 from Canada, or about US$19,000 to US$21,000 from the US. That prices everyone as an adult. Children sharing a room with their parents usually come in lower.

When I plan a trip like this, everyone finds their own itinerary waiting in their room. One meal a day is together and everything else is optional, so nobody gets dragged onto a catamaran and nobody feels left out. There is a card of conversation starters on the table, because three generations don't always know where to start.

Our family trip for 29.

When I planned our family trip for 29 a few years ago, some of the most meaningful times were the after-dinner devotions, where each person signed up to share something they had learned with the family. Often those times brought tears to our eyes, and reminded us all what a rare and special gift a loving family is.

If you are bringing grandparents and grandchildren together, I wrote about what makes grandparent and grandchild trips work, and most of it applies here.

What does a travel advisor add to an all-inclusive booking?

The research in this article. I checked thousands of daily prices across more than thirty resorts and four Canadian cities, read the recent reviews on the finalists, and removed the ones that looked good on price and bad everywhere else. That is the part of planning most people never see, and it is where the real savings come from.

For a couple, it means the right resort for the two of you and the right week to go. For a group or a wedding party, it means one plan, one point of contact, and the group benefits resorts offer. Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, for example, publishes free nights, a welcome amenity and a room upgrade for social groups that book together through December 20, 2027. For a family, it means a week built so the toddler, the teenager and the grandparents all come home happy.

I plan group travel, family travel and meaningful couples experiences, from honeymoons on a starter budget to a week for the whole family. I'd love to plan yours.

So dream with me

Who would you take? Your someone special, or the whole family? Tell me three things: where you'd like to go, how many are coming, and your budget per person. It doesn't have to be Mexico. I'll price it from your city.
